Fishing Dan is a free resource, offered in good faith to help you plan a fishing trip. These terms set out how you can use it, and an important point about safety and your own responsibility on the water. Please read the disclaimer below; it matters.

What this site is

Fishing Dan is free information: guides to where to fish, what you can catch and when, and the rigs, knots and tackle to use. It is written in good faith from real experience and dated, named sources. It is general information, not personal advice for your specific trip.

Fishing carries risk, and you are responsible for your own safety. Being on or near water, wading, and using a boat can be dangerous. You are responsible for assessing the conditions (weather, wind, currents, water level and ice), for wearing appropriate safety equipment, for your own competence in a boat, and for the safety of anyone with you. Take local advice, never fish alone in risky conditions, and don't take risks beyond your ability.

You are responsible for fishing legally and following local rules. Licences, permitted seasons, size and bag limits, protected species and access rules change from year to year and differ from water to water. We date the figures we publish and link the official source, but you must confirm the current rules yourself, with the authority that governs the water you are fishing, before you fish.

We give the information in good faith, but we can't guarantee it. To the extent the law allows, Fishing Dan and DT Global Ventures Ltd are not liable for any loss, injury, fine or other harm arising from your use of, or reliance on, the information on this site, or from your fishing. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited (including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence).

Using the site

You're welcome to read the guides, and to print or save a page (the cheat sheet is made for printing) for your own use. Please don't republish or copy the content wholesale as your own.

Our content

The text, rig and knot diagrams, and other original material on Fishing Dan are ours and are protected. You may print and use them for your own fishing. For anything beyond that, ask us first at hello@fishingdan.com.
